Nawaz Sharif Taken To Hospital Due To ‘Critically Low’ Platelet Count
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was taken to a hospital on Monday for a medical check-up after his personal physician reported that his platelet count had fallen due to ‘multiple pathologies’.
On Monday night, Nawaz Sharif’s personal physician, Dr Adnan Khan, stated on Twitter that Nawaz Sharif’s platelet count was critically low and urged that he be immediately hospitalised. He added that the former prime minister had ‘multiple serious life-threatening health issues’.
Today met former PM #NawazSharif for consultation & evaluation. He’s visibly unwell & has multiple serious life-threatening health issues of acute nature.
I’ve recommended immediate hospitalisation for workup & treatment.
The matter is of utmost urgency.— Dr. Adnan Khan (@Dr_Khan) October 21, 2019
Dr Khan also shared Nawaz Sharif’s reports which showed the former PM as having a critically low platelet count that Dr Khan attributed to multiple pathologies.
Former PM #NawazSharif is detected to have critically low Platelet Count (16*10^9/L) that could be due to multiple pathologies & requires immediate in-hospital care.
I’ve requested the concerned authorities to act in urgency please. pic.twitter.com/hnaYHEAxkF— Dr. Adnan Khan (@Dr_Khan) October 21, 2019
The physician later stated that Nawaz Sharif’s condition was normal and that his dengue test turned out to be negative. He added that his platelet count had decreased allegedly due to the medicines he took that made his blood thin.
Meanwhile, Twitter witnessed a hashtag, #Nawazneedsmaryam, calling for his family to be allowed to be with him when he is critically ill.
By all accounts Nawaz Sharif is in a precarious condition and is alone in hospital without a single family member by his side. No one is better suited to be with him than his daughter Maryam. She MUST be allowed to stay with him & take care of him. #NawazNeedsMaryam
