PPP, PML-N Not To Participate In JUI-F’s Sit-In

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) announced on Friday that they would not be taking part in the sit-in announced by the Jamiat Uleme-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).
Senior leaders and members of the two parties informed media that they had conveyed to Maulana Fazlur Rehman that their party would not partake in the sit-in, but would only attend the public meeting that was held on Friday.
A news report in Dawn cited PML-N secretary general Ahsan Iqbal as saying that his party had only come for a day, adding that even Nawaz Sharif had asked them to participate in the march for a day.
PPP secretary general Farhatullah Babar said that his party’s leadership had made it clear at the multi-party conferences and Rehbar Committee meetings that PPP would not be taking part in the sit-in.
Babar did not make comments in response to his party’s participation in the sit-in if they were asked for a ‘token participation’.
He added that Bilawal Bhutto would, however, be addressing public meetings in South Punjab.
The Azadi March, led by the JUI-F, entered Islamabad on Thursday night. Bilawal Bhutto, Shahbaz Sharif, and Maulana Fazlur Rehman addressed the participants of the march.
