Maulana Abdul Aziz Continues To Occupy Lal Masjid Despite Ban On Entry
The deposed prayer leader of the Lal Masjid Maulana Abdul Aziz continues to occupy the mosque and claims he is still the prayer leader. Dawn newspaper reported that Maulana Abdul Aziz took advantage of the absence of a new prayer leader or a deputy, and re-entered the Lal Masjid two days ago.
The report further said that the area outside the mosque is currently seized by the administration with Abdul Aziz and the women of Laal Masjid holed up inside. Both the sides have refused to back off.
Abdul Aziz delivered a Friday sermon last week but the authorities took no action against him.
Hafiz Ehtasham, a former friend of Abdul Aziz’s, said that the matter was brought to the notice of police that Haroon Rasheed, who had been picked up by security personnel earlier, was also illegally occupying the official residence of naib khateeb in Lal Masjid,”
