Samaa TV Under Fire For Alleged Racism Against Sindhis
News channel Samaa TV is facing backlash on social media for allegedly practicing racism in its coverage of the coronavirus crisis. In one of its news bulletins, the channel referred to the Sindh government as ‘sayeen sarkar’ (Sayeen kingdom). The term ‘Sayeen’ is used in Sindh as a mark of respect for elders, but the channel appeared to have used it as a racist slur. Social media users were unamused by the channel’s attempt to demean the Sindhi cultire and recorded their protest using the hastag #SindhRejectsSamaaTV

The way they used saeen sarkar for CM sindh, #sindhrejectssamaatv. Pamra should take strict action against samatv for using such words. Is this a responsible media? This is not about a political party, sama was targeting sindhis. pic.twitter.com/WwfHXA43SS
