Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Sheikh Rashid Test Positive For Coronavirus
Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi have tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday.
PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb announced that Abbasi has quarantined himself at home after being diagnosed.
PML-N leader, Shehbaz Sharif also sent out good wishes for Abbasi’s quick recovery and said that he has been a “valuable asset of the party”. Sharif also indicated that the growing number of coronavirus in the country was a sign of alarm and incompetence of the current government.
Later, the Railway Ministry confirmed that Rashid has not been infected and has not been feeling any symptoms of the virus. He had only gone into isolation for two weeks inside his house upon the doctor’s recommendation.
Governer Sindh, President Arif Alvi,and Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani had also called the minister to check up on how he was doing.
Besides, PML-N leaders Aurangzeb and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry also got tested after Abbasi was diagnosed with the virus, as they had been in contact with the former prime minister.
In Pakistan, more than 103,000 people have tested positive across the country since the first case emerged on Feb 26. However, the federal government still insists on further easing the lockdown, despite multiple PTI officials having contracted the virus, the incumbent party insists on easing the nationwide lockdown further.
