Kapil Dev, a Hindu human rights activist, was grateful to the ‘progressive’ citizens of Islamabad for protesting in support of the temple. He said that Pakistan has once again given the Hindus a hope that they won’t be left alone and ignored in this fight for their rights. “Today mainstream political parties rallied behind minorities in NA & progressive citizens of Islamabad staged a protest demanding temple in the town,” he added.

On Tuesday, a bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected the plea seeking a stay order against the construction of Hindu temple in Sector H-9 of Islamabad.
The court remarked that minorities’ rights were protected in the constitution. The court, however, directed the concerned authorities to submit a report explaining whether the temple was part of the CDA’s master plan or not.

Sadly, nothing will come out unless progressive Muslims come forward to lay the foundation stone and provide labor, material and resources ( including open discourse) on freedom of belief and practice.
